Burgess appeal boosts Leeds ahead of derby

Luke Burgess will be available for Super League leaders Leeds Rhinos tomorrow, having successfully appealed against a suspension. The prop was included in the champions' 19-man squad to face Bradford Bulls despite a one-match suspension having been imposed by the Rugby Football League. An appeals panel found that he had been guilty of a reckless high tackle, but that the punishment imposed was too severe and instead fined him £300.Leeds head coach Brian McClennan welcomed the decision, stating: "We would like to thank the panel for a fair hearing and we are pleased that Luke will be available to play this Friday against Bradford."It means Burgess will face his younger brother Sam in the derby game, although the Rhinos will be without Scott Donald for only the fourth time since the beginning of the 2006 season after he picked up an injury last weekend.Leeds are currently 6/4 joint favourites with Gamebookers to win their third successive title, alongside St Helens - beaten finalists in the last two years.
