Formula One Betting - Button Future In Doubt?
World Formula One champion Jenson Button could be left without a drive next season after the news that Mercedes-Benz is to take over the Brawn team.Brawn is to be rebranded as Mercedes Grand Prix, but Button has yet to negotiate a contract with his potential new employer.
Chief executive of Brawn Nick Fry explains that the issue relates to how much the world champion should be paid in order to remain with the team.
However, he adds that the takeover by Mercedes-Benz does not mean that more money is available to retain the 2009 season winner.
Fry says: "We have had discussions with Jenson about what we think is a sensible salary.
"This is not going to change anything in that respect."
Both Fry and team principal Ross Brawn have been confirmed as remaining in their current roles following the takeover.
Despite winning the 2009 series, Button is ranked joint fourth to take the 2010 crown, at odds of 8/1 at Stan James(Go to Stan James »).
Lewis Hamilton is favourite to regain his 2008 title, with Coral(Go to Coral ») offering a price of 11/4 on the former champion.
