Chisnall Joint Favourite For BDO Crown
Dave Chisnall is now the joint favourite to win the BDO World Darts Championship after upsetting reigning titlist Ted Hankey in the quarter-finals last night. The 29-year-old, who was relatively unheralded coming into the tournament, came from 4-1 down in sets to win 5-4 after transforming himself at the break and playing brilliantly in the second session.
Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports ») makes him 5/2 to go on and win the tournament - the same odds it offers on number two seed Scott Waites.
He is arguably the only player who has looked stronger than Chisnall so far, with the unseeded competitor impressing in 3-1 and 4-2 victories over Darryl Fitton and Tony West respectively in the first and second rounds.
Waites plays Martin Phillips tonight and is 1/8 at Skybet(Go to Skybet ») to book his own place in the semi-finals.
He will meet the winner of Martin Adams and Garry Thompson, while Chisnall is set to play number one seed Tony O'Shea.
