McClennan: Sinfield Injury Hampered Us
Damage to Kevin Sinfield's leg hampered Leeds' chances of defeating Melbourne in the World Club Challenge, Brian McClennan has stated.Despite holding a 10-4 lead in the second half, Leeds were beaten 18-10, in a match that the Rhinos coach described as "frustrating".
McClennan noted that while Sinfield tried to come back on the pitch to continue the match, another blow stopped him from continuing.
He remarked: "[Sinfield] is our captain and the most influential player in our side, so it was a big blow. He helps direct it around."
However, McClennan added, with rugby league being a contact sport, these situations will arise quite often.
Melbourne defended really well, he explained, which made it very hard to score points against them.
While Leeds fans may be disappointed with the loss, they are likely to be buoyed by the fact that their team are currently 6/4 favourites with both Bet365(Go to Bet365 ») and Skybet(Go to Skybet ») to win the Super League this season.
