Doherty 'delighted To Be Back' At Crucible
Ken Doherty is relishing his return to the World Snooker Championship as the draw for the first round takes place today (March 11th).The Darling of Dublin ended a run of 15 consecutive appearances at the Crucible after failing to make the competition last year and he is determined to make up for it.
He won the tournament in 1997 and has been runner-up twice since, but he is regarded as a long shot for the prize this time round, with Coral(Go to Coral ») offering the shortest odds at 66/1.
"I'm still just as hungry as ever to go back there and do it again - it's not beyond the realms of possibility," he told BBC Sport.
The current world number one, Ronnie O'Sullivan, is the favourite with the bookmakers and he is widely available at 3/1.
However, current champion John Higgins may be many individual's pick, with Paddy Power(Go to Paddy Power ») and Stan James(Go to Stan James ») quoting prices of 5/1 for the Scot to take the title.
