Beckenbauer 'concerned By Rooney Threat'

Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer has said that his side is worried by the form of Wayne Rooney.

His team face Manchester United next Tuesday (March 30th) and the former Germany captain is under no illusions about how well Rooney is playing.

"He is doing an absolutely fantastic job for [his squad] and I must tell you that we at Bayern will fear him when we play United in the Champions League quarter-finals," Beckenbauer added.

The bookies are finding it hard to separate the two ahead of the first tie, with Totesport(Go to Totesport ») quoting odds of 6/4 for both.

Experiencing his best-ever season, the 24-year-old has already scored 33 goals for his club. He also got nine in ten games for England in World Cup qualifying.

The Reds are second favourites to lift the top prize in Europe, with Skybet(Go to Skybet ») offering odds of 3/1 on Sir Alex Ferguson's men adding to their trophy haul.
