Former champion Shaun Murphy is confident that he can overcome Ding Junhui in the second round of the World Snooker Championship.

Ding is the favourite at 5/9 with Expekt(Go to Expekt »), while Murphy is 8/5 with sporting bet for the encounter.

The Englishman, who made the final last year before losing to John Higgins, is 14/1 with Totesport(Go to Totesport ») to win the whole tournament.

He noted that his opponent is "the best player in the world at the moment" and that "he's featured in all the major events" so far in the season.

Murphy triumphed in his first match against Gerard Greene, despite wobbling at 9-2 up and losing five straight frames.

According to the 27-year-old, he has never questioned his ability and he thinks that he possesses the tools to beat the young Chinese man, who is bidding to become only the second player outside of the British Isles to take the title, with the first being Canadian Cliff Thorburn.
