His side now face Bayern Munich in the final and the Italians are the 4/7 favourites with Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports »), while the German outfit are 11/8 with Coral(Go to Coral »).
"We were a team of heroes. We sweated blood," Mourinho declared. "I thank everyone who played and who did not play. I thank all the fans."
Inter Milan had to play over 60 minutes with only ten men due to Thiago Motta's red card for violent conduct, but they held firm.
Mourinho will now be plotting his second title in the competition, having previously beat Monaco 3-0 in the 2004 showpiece.
For Inter, it is the first time since 1972 that they have made it to the last two.
