Premier League attention turns to relegation battle
The attention of the Premier League has turned to the relegation battle, after Manchester United wrapped up their third successive title on Saturday.A goalless draw at home to Arsenal was enough for Sir Alex Ferguson's men to retain the trophy one week early, equalling Liverpool's record of 18 titles.Their Merseyside rivals, meanwhile, beat West Bromwich Albion 2-0 yesterday to condemn the Baggies to the Championship. It looks as though they will be joined there next season by Middlesbrough, as Gareth Southgate's side will need Hull City to lose as well as overturn a gap of four in goal difference between the two sides. The Tigers are just outside the relegation zone with one point more than Newcastle United, but host the champions this weekend knowing a win will be needed to ensure survival.Alan Shearer's Magpies, meanwhile, will be travelling to Aston Villa needing to get a better result than Hull if they are to stay up and are priced 11/20 by Sportingbet to go down.Sunderland cement their place in next season's Premier League with a win as they head to Portsmouth tonight, with Bet365 making them favourites for the match with odds of 11/8.
