Manchester United edge closer to title

Manchester United are on the brink of retaining the Premier League title after a 2-1 win away to Wigan Athletic.Sir Alex Ferguson's men were given a scare when the hosts took the lead through Hugo Rodallega, but Carlos Tevez and Michael Carrick stepped up to take the defending champions within one point of the trophy.Rodallega shrugged off the challenge of Nemanja Vidic to put Wigan in front just before the half-hour mark and United went into the break trailing. But substitute Tevez brilliantly flicked a Carrick shot into the net just minutes after his introduction, before the latter wrapped things up with four minutes to play.United are now priced 1/100 by Expekt to equal Liverpool's record of 18 league titles this season, as they need just one point from their final two games - at home to Arsenal and away to Hull City - to do so.And they could well have things wrapped up by the time Liverpool next take to the pitch on Sunday, as Bet365 gives them odds of 8/11 to beat the Gunners at home.
