England favoured by bookmakers
England are now only behind Brazil, Spain and Argentina as the bookmakers' favourites to take the 2010 World Cup trophy after a 6-0 victory over Andorra. Paddy Power (Go to Paddy Power ») currently has the Group 6 winners at 8/1 to take the trophy, with 2006 victors Italy offered longer odds at 12/1 with Stan James (Go to Stan James »). Strikers Wayne Rooney and Jermaine Defoe both picked up two goals each in a match that saw England score six goals against the bottom of the group side. The Manchester United star Rooney began the rout after four minutes by heading in a Glen Johnson cross. Frank Lampard scored the second when Theo Walcott cut the ball back across the area for the Chelsea midfielder and Rooney provided England's third before the half-time whistle. Jermaine Defoe prevented the Red Devils' striker from securing his hat-trick by replacing him as a substitute during the break, but got a brace of goals himself. Portsmouth's Peter Crouch then hit the back of the net to complete England's night.
