Benitez: Aquilani would be a good addition
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has confirmed his interest in Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani, saying he would be a great signing for the team. Roma have allowed the Reds to approach the 25-year-old, with Benitez telling Liverpool's official club website that he would be exciting for the fans.
"He has good passing - the final ball is good - and he also works. If he can settle down properly in England he can be a very good addition," the coach remarked.
According to Benitez, Aquilani would play between Steven Gerrard and Argentine international captain Javier Mascherano.
It is expected that the Italian is being signed to replace Xabi Alonso, who is in the process of being transferred to Real Madrid.
After being runners-up in last season's Premier League, the Anfield-based side are 4/1 with Betfred(Go to Betfred ») to win the title in the upcoming campaign.
Manchester United and Chelsea are both 2/1 to take the trophy with bookmaker Coral(Go to Coral »).
