Chelsea favourites for Premier League
Chelsea have emerged as favourites with some bookies for the upcoming Premier League title, following the sides' Community Shield victory over Manchester United this weekend. Ladbrokes(Go to Ladbrokes ») is currently offering 2/1 odds on the Blues winning the 2009-10 season, while the Old Trafford-based club - who are the reigning champions from the last campaign - are available at 9/4 with Blue Square(Go to Blue Square »).
In Sunday's (August 9th) Community Shield match-up neither team was able to settle the game within 90 minutes, with the score ending 2-2.
Carlo Ancelotti's squad went on to secure the silverware after winning 4-1 in a penalty shootout.
Reds' manager Sir Alex Ferguson has blasted referee Chris Foy for failing to spot an alleged elbow from Michael Ballack to defender Patrice Evra, after which Chelsea went on to immediately score their second goal.
Ballack told Sky Sports News that the Stamford Bridge side were right to carry on playing, adding: "This is for the referee to decide. It is not our choice and that is it."
