Burnley favourites for relegation despite United win

Burnley remain the favourites to be relegated from the Premier League this year despite last night's (August 19th) win over title contenders Manchester United.

The Clarets join Hull City and Portsmouth as the clubs most likely to go down, with Betfred(Go to Betfred ») offering odds of 8/15 that the newly-promoted side will be in the Championship next season.

This is despite the fact that the north-west side beat last year's Premier League winners 1-0 yesterday at Turf Moor.

Robbie Blake, 33, fired the home side ahead in the 19th minute after former England international Michael Owen missed an opportunity not long after the starting whistle.

Goalkeeper Brian Jensen foiled a Reds revival by saving a Michael Carrick penalty later in the game.

Chelsea are considered the side most likely to lift the Premier League trophy this year, with Paddy Power(Go to Paddy Power ») offering odds of 6/4.

United have slipped to 10/3 with Bet365(Go to Bet365 ») after the loss away from home.
