World Cup football - Heskey betting on Defoe start
Emile Heskey has admitted that he "can't complain" if Jermaine Defoe is picked ahead of him for England's World Cup qualifying match against Croatia tomorrow (September 9th). Defoe, who is 5/4 to net a goal against the east European team with Stan James(Go to Stan James »), has scored 11 times for his country in 35 appearances, while Heskey has managed just seven times in 55.
The Aston Villa front-man said: "You can't really complain if you look at the statistics," adding that Defoe has "done brilliantly" and "every time he comes on the pitch he scores a goal".
Tottenham Hotspur striker Defoe has hit the back of the net three times in two games for England, including two goals against Holland to draw the match 2-2.
Fabio Cappello's men are currently the favourites to beat Croatia in tomorrow's game, with 888Sport(Go to 888sport ») offering odds of 4/7.
If England win they will secure a place in next year's world cup.
