Champions League Odds - Lampard States Chelsea Desire
Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has admitted that the Stamford Bridge side want to win the Champions League "badly". According to the England international, last year's defeat to eventual winners Barcelona - in which the London-based team lost in the final few minutes - has neither increased or lessened their desire to win the trophy, Sky Sports News reports.
He stated: "There's no year we want it more than any other. We wanted it last year badly, when we nearly got to the final and this year we want it badly again."
His comments come after Chelsea defeated Porto 1-0 in the opening game of Group D, a match which Lampard confesses wasn't their best performance.
A second-half goal by Nicolas Anelka maintained manager Carlo Ancelotti's 100 per cent win record with the club.
Paddy Power(Go to Paddy Power ») currently has Chelsea at 6/1 to win the Champions League this year after reaching the finals and semi-finals in the 2007-08 and 2008-09 campaigns respectively.
Last year's runners-up Manchester United are available at 8/1 with Blue Square(Go to Blue Square »).
