Arsenal's odds of lifting the Premier League trophy at the end of the season are much improved after a crucial win over Liverpool, the club's manager has claimed.

The side's 2-1 victory over the Reds saw them climb to within six points of leaders Chelsea with a game in hand, something Arsene Wenger thinks has given confidence to the team.

"For us, it gets us back into it. Mathematically we're in a good position again," he remarked, adding: "We knew with what happened with the results yesterday (Saturday 12th), that we needed to win here."

Liverpool had gone ahead through a 41st-minute strike from Dirk Kuyt, but the Gunners equalised early in the second half with a Glen Johnson own goal before makeshift striker Andrey Arshavin sealed the game in the 58th minute.
