Wenger: Recalling Players Is Selfish
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed he will not ask for any of the club's players to return from the African Cup of Nations, despite security fears. Togo have already pulled out of the tournament after their team bus came under gunfire last week, resulting in three deaths.
Some Premier League coaches have expressed concern over their squad members since the incident, with some considering recalling athletes involved in the tournament.
However, Wenger noted that taking this approach "wouldn't be fair".
He remarked: "Behind things like that you wonder if it is a selfish motivation or whether it is a real issue over their security."
The Gunners boss went on to say that putting a stop to competitions due to this kind of incident only rewards terrorists.
Arsenal are scheduled to face Bolton Wanderers next Saturday, a match which Bet365(Go to Bet365 ») sees them as a 1/2 favourite.
Victor Chandler(Go to VCBet ») is offering the draw at 13/5.
