Torres: We Need More Players
Fernando Torres has claimed Liverpool need to bring in new talent if they want to have any chance of finishing the season with silverware. The Reds striker, who is currently out of action to receive surgery on his knee, admitted that it has been "frustrating" to see last season's success peter out.
In the 2008-09 campaign, the Anfield side finished second in the Premier League, but Torres told Four-Four-Two magazine that the side will need to expand their squad if they want to challenge for anything this year.
"We need more genuinely first-class players and we can't let our best players leave," he remarked.
Liverpool have already crashed out of the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup and the Carling Cup and Torres pointed to the Europa League as a must-win opportunity.
Totesport(Go to Totesport ») currently has Rafa Benitez's men as a 7/1 favourite to land the Europa title this season, while Coral(Go to Coral ») also considers Valencia potential challengers at 11/1.
