West Ham Owners Willing To Lend Pompey Money
David Gold has stated that he would be willing to lend financial support to Premier League strugglers Portsmouth should governing bodies allow it. The co-owner of West Ham noted that while he is not inclined to help Pompey's management team - who he said have a large part to play in the club's current financial position - his heart goes out to the fans.
"If Portsmouth asked me for £10 million, I would lend it to them so long as the Premier League endorsed it and I was repaid on the agreed date," he remarked.
Portsmouth's monetary concerns have been well documented, with the side facing administration if they are unable to pay HM Revenue & Customs tax liabilities.
This could have a massive effect on the Premier League standings, with teams who have defeated Avram Grant's men having points removed.
Currently sitting at the bottom of the table, the south coast-based side are huge favourites to go down, with Totesport(Go to Totesport ») and Bet365(Go to Bet365 ») offering odds of 1/25 on this eventuality.
