Owen: I Can't Discuss My England Frustrations
Manchester United frontman Michael Owen has claimed he is unable to tell the truth about his feelings regarding his place in the international team because of media speculation. The former Liverpool striker noted that discussing the England situation under new manager Fabio Capello - in which Owen has been continuously overlooked - could reflect badly on him, the Independent reports.
"I've said many times that it's difficult for me to talk about it," he remarked. "I can't find the right words because, one slip of the tongue and I'm on the back page."
The 30-year-old recently scored for the Reds against Aston Villa in the League Cup, equalising after James Milner put Martin O'Neill's men ahead with a penalty early in the game, before Wayne Rooney put the final goal past Brad Friedel.
England are currently offered at 6/1 with Betfair(Go to Betfair ») to lift the World Cup trophy in South Africa later this year, while WBX(Go to WBX ») considers Spain the favourites at 21/5.
