Fernando Torres Out For Season

Liverpool's chances of winning silverware this year may have been damaged by the news that Fernando Torres will miss the remainder of the season.

The Spaniard has had surgery on a knee complaint that will see him sit out the next six weeks, meaning he faces a race to be fit for the World Cup.

A Liverpool spokesman said: "It was decided that he would need surgery on a torn cartilage in his right knee. This will be carried out later on Sunday."
