Lee to ride Blade at National

Grand National-winning jockey Graham Lee is to ride Kilbeggan Blade at this year's race, the ten-year-old's trainer has revealed.Tom George confirmed the pairing ahead of the Aintree classic on April 4th, noting that the rider "knows his way around", having partnered Amberleigh House to victory in 2004.Kilbeggan Blade's last time out saw him beaten at odds-on over hurdles in Warwick, but the handler stated that he is pleased with preparations."Everything is fine with the horse and we just have to hope things continue to go according to plan for the next two weeks," said George, adding that Blade tends to perform best over fences following a hurdle run.Kilbeggan Blade is currently rated at 33/1 in the online horse racing betting market, although Blue Square has him at 25/1.Meanwhile, a bidding war has broken out for one of the race's more fancied runners - the John Quinn-trained Character Building.
