Rip Van Winkle suffers injury scare
Rip Van Winkle, one of the leading contenders for this weekend's 2,000 Guineas, has suffered an injury scare.Trainer Aidan O'Brien told racingpost.com that the horse was found to have a stone bruise on one of his front legs."We think that he is going to be fine
but we will have to wait and see how he is over the next few days before making a final decision," he was quoted as saying.Meanwhile, Ouqba has been added to the race after winning the European Free Handicap, with trainer Barry Hills originally not having entered him due to concerns over stamina.Rip Van Winkle is currently third favourite in the online horse racing betting market, having been tipped to win by bookmakers before the injury was announced.Punters can get odds of 5/1 with Sportingbet, although others have him at 4/1 for the Newmarket Classic.Stablemate Mastercraftsman is also widely priced at 4/1, while Delegator is the favourite with Betfred, which offers 3/1.
