Takeover target 'performing well' ahead of Royal Ascot

Takeover Target is on course for a return to Royal Ascot, having won on his comeback over the weekend.The ten-year-old, trained by Joe Janiak, took victory in the TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick, in his native Australia.And the veteran sprinter is now set to compete in Adelaide in a fortnight before travelling to Singapore for the KrisFlyer.Janiak noted that Takeover Target has finished in second, third and fourth place on his three attempts at the Golden Jubilee at the Royal Ascot and will be targeting victory on his final visit."We were confident that he would perform well in the TJ Smith, but we knew there was plenty of improvement to come," said the trainer, adding that the victory over younger runners "showed just how good a horse he is".This year's meeting begins at the Berkshire course on Tuesday June 16th June, with the Golden Jubilee taking place on the final day - Saturday June 20th.
