Chief Dan George tipped for Scottish Grand National

Trainers are watching weather forecasts with interest ahead of this weekend's Scottish Grand National at Ayr.Chief Dan George is currently favourite for the race, with Notre Pere heading the weights after pulling out of the Monday's Irish equivalent due to fast conditions.Handler Jimmy Moffat said of the Chief: "He is like a bull and raring to go," adding: "He certainly deserves to take his chance in a big one like this and I hope we won't be disappointed."A total of 37 runners have been named for the event, with notable entries including Merigo - recent winner of the Eider Chase - and Nine De Sivola, the 2007 Scottish Grand National runner-up.The ground is currently described as good, although course clerk Katherine Self revealed that watering will be considered today.Victor Chandler prices Chief Dan George at 6/1, with Tricky Trickster the second favourite at 8/1 and Nine De Sivola given odds of 9/1 by Totesport.
