Blade's season 'may be over'
Kilbeggan Blade may not run again this season, his trainer has revealed.Tom George explained that a decision will be made next week, with the mount having been a "bit stiff" in recent days. The ten-year-old took part in last weekend's Grand National, but pulled up before the 21st fence. And he is now due to run in the Scottish National on April 18th, a race for which he is rated at 33/1 in the online horse racing betting market.Blade also holds an entry for the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown the following week, with George explaining that the course is a favourite for the mount."I would have thought it very unlikely he'd go for the Scottish National," said the trainer, adding: "I need to discuss it with the owners when we see how he is over the next week."Meanwhile, the runners and riders are preparing for the Irish equivalent on Easter Monday, with Wichita Lineman made 8/1 favourite by Boyle Sports.
