Sword pulls off Vase victory
Golden Sword has pulled off a shock victory in the Virgin Money Chester Vase.Aidan O'Brien's 25-1 outsider comfortably beat stablemate Masterofthehorse by two lengths, despite the latter being 13-8 pre-race favourite.Jockey Johnny Murtagh sat well off the lead on Masterofthehorse for much of the race before finishing strong, but was ultimately unable to make up the ground."It was a good race and I was very happy with my horse," he said, adding: "I think we have a very strong bunch of three-year-olds and I think that showed today."The victory could see money come in for Golden Sword for the Derby, although he is still a 40-1 with Ladbrokes. Blue Square prices both of O'Brien's horses at 20/1, although Masterofthehorse is as short as 14/1 with Victor Chandler for the June Classic.Another runner from O'Brien's yard - Fame and Glory - recently saw odds come in following success in the Ballysax Stakes, but it is Sea The Stars that is favoured in the online horse racing betting market.
