Sea The Stars set for Derby double

A race at the Curragh could provide Sea The Stars with a Derby double this weekend after favourable conditions suggest he may run.Sea The Stars should feature in the Irish Derby at the Curragh on Sunday, despite previous concerns about the weather. Trainer John Oxx had hinted that the colt may not run due to soft ground and suggested the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown as an alternative. But racecourse manager at the Curragh Paul Hensey attempted to allay concerns by commenting on favourable weather conditions. He told At The Races: "The forecast is for mostly dry and settled weather through the week. That would point to Sea The Stars running here."Wins at the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket and the Epsom Derby have made it a successful season for the Oxx-trained horse. However, he could face a strong challenge from Irishman Aiden O'Brien, who brings ten runners into the race including Golden Sword, Masterofthehorse and Epsom second-place Fame and Glory. Sea The Stars is currently favourite to win at the Curragh with bookies William Hill (Go to William Hill ») offering odds at 6/4. Masterofthehorse can be bought at 4/1 with Coral (Go to Coral »).
