Fortune to ride Delegator
Jimmy Fortune will partner Delegator for today's St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. Fortune praised Brian Meehan's horse for his improving form but admitted the colt was "beaten by a champion" in the Guineas at Newmarket, where it was defeated by Sea The Stars. "I rode him twice last year, firstly in his maiden (second) and then I won a maiden on him. Unfortunately I was suspended when he ran in the Dewhurst so Jamie took over," he commented in an interview with At The Races. The jockey also praised Mastercrasftsman for winning on awkward ground at the Curragh and looking much improved from Newmarket. St James' Palace Stakes is the third race of the first day at Royal Ascot and will take place at 15:45 GMT. Delegator is currently second favourite with Bet365 (Go to Bet365 ») at 4/1. Many bookies have Aidan O'Brien's Mastercraftsman as most likely to win at odds of 17/20 with Sportingbet (Go to Sportingbet »). Those looking for an outside bet can find Soul City at 25/1 with Victor Chandler (Go to VCBet »).
