Sea The Stars 'would make great winner'

Sea The Stars could win the Epsom Derby on Saturday - becoming the first Guineas-Derby winner in years - says his trainer. The colt won the 2,000 Guineas last month and is the favourite with many bookies, including WBX (Go to WBX ») at 31/10, to gain victory at Epsom. Commenting on his chances, trainer John Oxx said: "Whether he can win the Derby as well as the Guineas is a tough call - it hasn't been done now for 20-odd years, and Nijinsky 20 years before that."The horse would be a "great champion" if he were to win, Mr Oxx added. Aiden O'Brien, meanwhile, has six horses in the running, including Age of Aquarius, Black Bear Island, Rip Van Winkle, Masterofthehorse and Golden Sword. Rip Van Winkle and rider Johnny Murtagh, who finished the Guineas in fourth in May, can be bought at odds of 9/2 at Blue Square (Go to Blue Square »). 888Sport (Go to 888sport ») has Seamus Heffernan atop Fame and Glory as the second favourite and offers odds of 4/1.
