Genki looking to bounce back from Wokingham Stakes

Trainer Roger Charlton has confirmed Genki will be aiming to put a seventh-place finish in the Wokingham Stakes behind him as the horse looks for victory in the Abu Dhabi International at Royal Ascot tomorrow (25th July). The horse is lightly-raced and Charlton stated it would be the five-year-old's first try at a seven-furlong run in a handicap, but put his previous bad performance at Ascot down to the track. He remarked: "I think it was the ground that day. By the Saturday they had watered the course and it was very loose on top."If there is no rain before the weekend, the trainer added, they may have to water the soil again, which he admitted would be a concern. Charlton has already won the International with Third Set two years ago and William Hill(Go to William Hill ») currently has has Genki at 14/1 to the title this time round. Captain Brilliance is the favourite and is available at odds of 4/1 with 888Sport(Go to 888sport »).
