Paco Boy to run Sussex Stakes

Paco Boy will be racing at the Group 1 BGC Sussex Stakes at Goodwood tomorrow (July 29th), according to his trainer. Richard Hannon confirmed the news via his official website, explaining that the four-year-old - who is 7/2 with William Hill(Go to William Hill ») to come first - looked "super" at the weekend and was in exceptional shape.Commenting on the decision to race him at Goodwood, Hannon stated: "The owners (Calvera Partnership) have left the decision to me, but I think we should have a crack at the Goodwood race rather than go to France for the Prix Maurice de Gheest."He added that while Eclipse runner-up Rip Vank Winkle was not a concern, 1,000 Guineas winner Ghaanati could prove to be stiff competition. After the Sussex Stakes, Paco Boy will look to appear in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville in the middle of August. Rip Van Winkle is considered the favourite to take the Sussex Stakes with bookmaker Sportingbet(Go to Sportingbet ») offering odds of 13/8.
