Sea The Stars trainer not taking Mastercraftsman lightly
The trainer of Juddmonte Stakes favourite Sea The Stars has suggested he is wary of the threat Mastercraftsman poses in the Group 1 race.John Oxx said that the one and one-quarter mile distance will suit the Aidan O'Brien horse and called him "a good, tough competitor" that "you have to respect".
Mastercraftsman has tasted Group 1 glory before, winning the Irish 2,000 Guineas and the St James's Palace Stakes earlier in the year, as well as the National Stakes and Phoenix Stakes in 2008.
But Sea The Stars is the best three-year-old in Europe, according to Timeform, and comes into the race off the back of a rare hat-trick of Group 1 wins in the 2,000 Guineas, the Derby and the Eclipse Stakes.
"The track should suit our horse fine as it's a nice, straightforward course and it suits a horse with speed as well," Oxx commented.
Sea The Stars is 1/3 to win the race at Paddy Power(Go to Paddy Power »), while Mastercraftsman is 9/4 at 888Sport(Go to 888sport »).
