Midday has tough autumn

Midday could appear in both the Prix de l'Opera and the Breeders' Cup this year as part of a difficult autumn campaign, according to connections of the horse.

Teddy Grimthorpe - racing manager to the filly's owner Khalid Abdullah - told At The Races the schedule following Midday landing the ten-furlong Nassau Stakes at Goodwood.

While Grimthorpe acknowledged the runner's ability to complete a mile and a half, he stated that a slightly shorter length is optimum.

He remarked: "I would think a mile and quarter would be her best trip as she quickened really well in the Nassau and won pretty nicely."

The horse has lost out in the Oaks and Irish Oaks recently, with the racing manager blaming the "absolutely bottomless ground".

Early odds for October's Prix de LArc de Triomphe are available at Betfair(Go to Betfair »), with the bookmaker giving Midday a 54/1 chance of romping home first.

WBX(Go to WBX ») considers Fame and Glory the favourite for the race and offers even odds.
