Horse racing odds - Monitor Closely supplemented for St Leger
Voltigeur Stakes winner Monitor Closely has been supplemented into the St Leger Stakes at Doncaster on Saturday at a cost of £45,000.Trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam said he believed it was worth giving the horse a chance in the Group One Classic following his impressive performance at York, where he won by more than four lengths.
"His work since York has been good and we are just hoping the ground remains on the quick side at Doncaster," he added.
Monitor is the fourth favourite to win the race at Betfair(Go to Betfair »), which is offering odds of 11/9 on the colt.
Age of Aquarius and Kite Wood are the joint favourites at 4/6, ahead of 42/41 Changingoftheguard.
Kite Wood, who is being ridden by five-time St Leger victor Frankie Dettori, is expected by some to also run in the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe next month, in which Sea The Stars is the hot favourite at 15/8 with Coral(Go to Coral »).
