Horse Racing - Odds Up In Air For Ghanaati And Aqlaam
The odds on Ghanaati and Aqlaam being run in the Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) Stakes at Royal Ascot later this month are not certain, according to the owner's top jockey.Richard Hills stated that Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum will make his decision on whether the two horses will feature in the September 26th race once Ramadan is over this weekend, At The Races reports.
Since finishing third in the Sussex Stakes, Ghanaati - a 629/1 outside bet for next month's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe with WBX(Go to WBX ») - has been absent from the track.
"She came back from the Sussex a bit sore behind and while we don't want to make too many excuses, she definitely wasn't at her best that day for whatever reason," Hill remarked.
The jockey also stated that while Aqlaam has had a troubled career, it is hoped the horse will come good in the future.
Betfair(Go to Betfair ») current has Ghanaati at 17/1 for the QEII, while Aqlaam is 33/5.
