Odds On Youmzain Arc Victory Possible, Says Trainer
Mick Channon has hinted that the possibility of Youmzain winning the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is better than ever because of the horse's fitness. The trainer confirmed that champion jockey Kieren Fallon will be atop the six-year-old and noted that "all systems are go" for the Longchamp event
He remarked: "He's in really great form. He's so well he doesn't know what to do with himself."
Youmzain has finished runner-up in the Arc two years' running, but has failed to score in four outings in 2009.
The horse was partnered by Fallon in his most recent race at the Grosser Preis von Baden in Germany, where the pair finished third after the jockey completed an 18-month ban from the sport.
Skybet(Go to Skybet ») is currently offering odds of 25/1 on Youmzain romping home first in the Arc, which is scheduled for the first Sunday in October.
Race favourite Sea The Stars is available at 11/8 with Stan James(Go to Stan James »).
