Horse Racing Betting - Barber Shop Possible For Betfair Chase
The Betfair(Go to Betfair ») Chase at Haydock may be a possible race for Barbers Shop, connections of the horse have stated. According to racing manager Sir Michael Oswald, while the seven-year-old is being considered for events such as the Paddy Power Gold Cup, there is a chance "he might be too highly rated" for handicapped competitions.
He remarked: "He would be giving lumps of weight away and it could be wiser to go for more open races like the Betfair Chase."
Oswald noted that it is likely the Nicky Henderson-trained horse will be put forward for a number of top contests in the future to see how he stacks up against big racers.
Having come seventh in last season's Cheltenham Gold Cup, Barbers shop is listed at 25/1 with Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports ») to come first this campaign.
Stan James(Go to Stan James ») is one of many bookmakers to list Kauto Star as the favourite and is offering odds of 7/4 for a win.
