Horse Racing Betting - Punjabi Fighting Fifth Odds In Danger?

Connections of Punjabi have noted that the horse could miss out on this year's WBX Fighting Fifth Hurdle later this month.

Racing manager Tony Stafford said that last season's Champion Hurdle winner is being monitored closely after suffering a setback recently.

"There was a slight worry last week when he had to miss a piece of work," he remarked, adding that while this may not be a concern for most other runners, "in the case of Punjabi it is always significant".

According to Stafford, "the next ten days will be crucial" and trainer Nicky Henderson will be keeping a close eye on the horse to ensure he is fit enough to take on the competition.

Scheduled come up against Punchestown victor Solwhit at the Fighting Fifth, Punjabi is also earmarked to defend his Champion Hurdle crown at Cheltenham later in the season, with bookmaker Totesport(Go to Totesport ») offering odds of 10/1 for another win.

Betfred(Go to Betfred ») considers Binocular the favourite at 7/2.
