Horse Racing Betting - King To Avoid Kauto Star
Trainer Ferdy Murphy has stated that Kalahari King will not be racing in the William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton later this month. According to the handler, the decision has been made in light of the stiff competition the Arkle runner-up will face on the day.
He told At The Races: "It would be a big ask first time out, especially with Kauto Star, the form he is in and the way he operates around there and Imperial Commander too."
Instead, the horse could be set for a February outing at Musselburgh in an open handicap race, Murphy said, with the outcome deciding what Kalahari King will be entered for at Cheltenham later in the year.
The King George VI Chase is due to take place on Boxing Day and Kauto Star is the early bookmakers' favourite at 8/11 with Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports »).
Other contenders hotly tipped include Imperial Commander, who Totesport(Go to Totesport ») currently has available at 6/1.
