Horse Racing Betting - Deep Purple Considered For King George

Deep Purple is being seriously considered for the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day, Evan Williams has claimed.

The trainer admitted that the race will be a "step up" for the horse, but maintained that the Kempton Park feature is a possibility for the Charlie Hall Chase winner.

He remarked: "I'm not going to definitely commit to the King George …. Of course we are going to look at it and it will come under strong consideration."

According to Williams, while Deep Purple has continued to impress, he will face stiff competition from Denman and Kauto Star on the day.

The Llancarfan handler noted that he has received "mighty beatings" from the two horses before and will be careful when facing them again.

Deep Purple is currently offered at odds of 12/1 with a number of bookmakers, including Totesport(Go to Totesport ») and Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports »).

Stan James(Go to Stan James ») has Kauto Star as the race favourite at 4/6, while Imperial Commander is also hotly tipped at 6/1.
