Kauto Star 'has Improved Since Betfair Chase'

Kauto Star has come on leaps and bounds since beating Imperial Commander by photo finish at the Betfair Chase in November, according to his trainer.

Having won the Gold Cup last season, the runner scraped a decision to earn his third win at the Haydock event, but Paul Nicholls claimed the nine-year-old is much more "mentally sharpened" now.

The horse is due to run in the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day and Nicholls stated that his warm-ups have been going "very well".

He remarked: "He will do a bit more on Saturday (December 19th) morning, school next week and then have his final workout on Thursday."

Kauto Star is set to face rival Imperial Commander at the Kempton Park feature, with the former considered the favourite with a number of bookmakers, including Ladbrokes(Go to Ladbrokes »), which is offering odds of 4/7.

Those looking to bet on Imperial Commander can find him at 6/1 with Totesport(Go to Totesport »).
