Tidal Bay To Run Betfair Hurdle

The Betfair Cleeve Hurdle will see Tidal Bay attempt the course at Cheltenham on Saturday (January 30th), it has been announced.

According to Sky Sports Racing, the nine-year-old is not particularly experienced with hurdles but performed well yesterday and has previously taken the Arkle Trophy, meaning that owner Howard Johnson is feeling optimistic.

"I was schooling some young horses over hurdles this morning and I said to J P O'Farrell 'give Tidal Bay a pop' and he absolutely flew them," Johnson told the news provider yesterday.

He added that the horse might be kept on hurdles based on its performance at the Grade Two event, but even if it does not run as well as expected, it will still be fighting fit to run in the Ryanair race.

Tidal Bay is currently being offered at odds of 40/1 for the Cheltenham feature from a number of bookmakers, including Victor Chandler(Go to VCBet ») and Blue Square(Go to Blue Square »).
