Mille Chief Dropped From Huntingdon Feature
Trainer Alan King has stated that he will be withdrawing Mille Chief from the Chatteris Fen Juvenile Novices' Hurdle at Huntingdon today (February 11th). According to the handler, the horse scoped badly on Wednesday morning and will instead be held back for the Adonis Hurdle at Kempton next month.
The Triumph Hurdle runner - who is currently a 9/2 favourite with Bet365(Go to Bet365 ») to win the Cheltenham feature - may have struggled if he had been allowed to race, King told his website.
He remarked: "It is annoying, but had we not had him tested we would have run him at Huntingdon and he would have got beaten and left the Triumph Hurdle behind him."
Despite this frustration, King acknowledged that no damage has been sustained by the horse and he should be healthy for Kempton on February 27th.
Looking ahead to the Triumph Hurdle, Carlito Brigante and Secant Star are Mille Chief's leading competitors, with both runners offered at 8/1 with Paddy Power(Go to Paddy Power »).
