Wee Robbie Has Handicap Hopes

While Wee Robbie has no hope of beating Denman in the Aon Chase, he could squeeze into the Grand National if he impresses the handicappers, Nick Gifford has stated.

The trainer confirmed that the horse will be running in the Aon, if only to get up in weight for future races.

He remarked: "We can't expect him to beat Denman in a million years, but if he can be there or thereabouts on the premises jumping the last, the handicapper might shove him back up."

According to the Findon handler, Wee Robbie has had little luck in two outings since returning from a one-year layoff.

This could be his last chance to run in the Grand National this year, Gifford added.

Wee Robbie is currently offered at 35/1 with Betfair(Go to Betfair ») to best the field in the Aon Chase at Newbury tomorrow (February 13th).

The runners chances of landing the Grand National are even longer, with Coral(Go to Coral ») offering 200/1 that he will romp home first in the John Smith's feature.
