Tranquil Sea 'has A Good Chance In The Ryanair Chase'

Handler Edward O'Grady has stated that Tranquil Sea could have a shot at romping home first in the Ryanair Chase next month after an impressive showing in Leopardstown recently.

The horse came first in the Newlands Chase feature in only his second race since securing victory in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham in November.

Commenting on his performance, the trainer said: "It isn't often things go as much to plan as that.

"Hopefully it's onwards and upwards and I couldn't have asked for more."

According to O'Grady, running him in the event was a "very delicate balancing act", as it is important that the eight-year-old tasted victory, but still remained fit for upcoming contests.

Considered one of the likeliest to triumph in the Ryanair Chase, Tranquil Sea is offered at 5/1 with Boyle Sports(Go to Boyle Sports »), while Totesport(Go to Totesport ») and Victor Chandler(Go to VCBet ») have Poquelin as the race favourite at odds of 7/2.
