Johnson: Tidal Bay Will Be Kept Ticking Over For Ladbrokes
It is unlikely that Tidal Bay will be worked hard ahead of the Ladbrokes World Hurdle, Howard Johnson has claimed. The trainer noted that holding the horse back should not be a hindrance to his performance on the day.
Johnson remarked: "He isn't a horse who takes much getting fit so we'll just keep him ticking over until Cheltenham and hope the ground is right."
According to the handler, as long as the course does not get watered due to the wintry weather conditions of recent months, Tidal Bay should put in a good run.
The horse won the 2008 Arkle Trophy and looked good in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham in January.
Due to take place on the 18th March, the World Hurdle event sees Tidal Bay as one of the race favourites, with Ladbrokes(Go to Ladbrokes ») and Stan James(Go to Stan James ») offering odds of 7/1 that he will cross the finishing line first.
