Thomas Doubtful For Cheltenham
Jockey Sam Thomas is a doubt for Cheltenham after suffering a heavy fall while in training. The 25-year-old had to be airlifted to hospital with neck and back injuries, which has cast doubt over his chances of making the festival.
He was due to ride Tell Massini in the Alfred Bartlett Novce Hurdle next Friday and Betdaq(Go to Betdaq ») has it as favourite for the race with odds of 361/100.
Trainer Tom George, who has Thomas as his stable jockey, said: "He's very stiff and sore but we are very hopeful there is no serious damage. The next 24 hours will tell us more."
He was also due to ride Tricky Tipster in the Gold Cup, which is available at 16/1 with Skybet(Go to Skybet »).
In 2008, Thomas rode Denman to glory in the premier race but subsequently lost it after switching stables.
And now Denman is a 7/2 second favourite for the gallop with Ladbrokes(Go to Ladbrokes »).
