Chief Dan Out Of Scottish Grand National
One of the favourites for this year's Scottish Grand National has been pulled out.Chief Dan had been well fancied to improve on his fifth-place finish in the 2009 race after winning the William Hill Trophy Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
Poker De Sivola is the current favourite for the contest, with Victor Chandler(Go to VCBet ») offering odds of 5/1 on the animal coming out on top.
But Jimmy Moffat's horse will not run after unsatisfactory blood tests.
"We have decided to put him out in a field and look forward to next season with some relish. He's done us proud this year. Next year the world is our oyster," he added.
Leading owner Sir Robert Ogden is set to be represented by That's Rhythm - 16/1 with Bet365(Go to Bet365 ») - and According To John - 33/1 with 888Sport(Go to 888sport »).
His race manger Barry Simpson noted that the latter mount has shown a bit of form lately and he is hoping it can repeat recent performances.
